around all 4 wheels, parallel to the ground, as high as you can get it without hitting the body of the car. If your front and back widths are different, make some small spacers to put under the string (styrofoam is light, easy to cut, and stays in place). For temporary use, I'd just make the front and back tires line up on both sides, then adjust toe-in so that there is up to 1/8" space at the front of the front tires. ..... Use a plumb-bob (a large nut on a piece of string) on the outside of the tires to set camber (of course, avoid the bulge from the tire being on the ground). Again, I'd go for almost straight up-down, favoring a small (up to 1/8") space at the top of the tire. If you question the level of the ground under the car, then move the car and put the plumb bob on it again.
